Join us for another transformative week on the fairytale island of Madeira, our beloved heart home. We'll guide you in the art of emotive self-portraiture in fantasy locations, helping you bare your soul amidst landscapes plucked straight out of your dreams. Karl and I (Wendy) have spent years exploring these locations and are excited to show you our favourite angles. November is one of the best times for chasing fog and mysterious, moody weather.

Accommodation:

We will be located in Sao Vicente, a central point of the island that will minimise driving times to our shooting locations, in a six-bedroom, three-bathroom house with private pool.

Itinerary:

November 16 - pick up from the airport and transfer to the accommodation to check in during the afternoon.

November 17-22 - we follow the whims of the weather to maximise emotive shooting conditions in fog, soft light and cloud. Locations include Fanal Forest, one of the two last remaining ancient laurisilva forests in the world, and Pico do Arieiro, a mountain that feels like the top of the world, with the clouds drifting below your feet. Other favourite spots include Seixal Beach, Porto Moniz pools, Ponta de Sao Lourenço, and lush hidden gems. This island has it all, from towering seaside cliffs, jagged mountains, secretive forests, traditional cottagecore landscapes, waterfalls, and black beaches.

We generally do 2 shoots a day, with down time in between for recovery, editing sessions, and bonding.

November 23 - check out in the morning. No adventures are planned, but you may voluntarily opt for a sunrise shoot.

Feed Your Creative Spirit:

Throughout the week, you'll practice techniques to elevate storytelling and artistry in your self-portraiture (and portraiture) skills, from mental preparation, and composition, to poignant posing. You'll befriend likeminded individuals, form treasured memories, and grow as a photographer and as a person.

Whether you're a seasoned photographer or a curious beginner, we welcome you on this magical week of self-discovery and artistic expression. We are so excited to share with you all of our favourite spots in Madeira.

Activity Level:

Moderate. Expect walks of varying lengths and slight incline, with many of the locations under 10 minutes from parking. You will be on your feet for several hours at a time while shooting.

€2650 for solo room

€2450 for shared room (2 spaces available)

What's Included:

Accommodation, transportation during the workshop, instruction and coaching on-location, DIY breakfast and sandwich lunch ingredients. One airport transfer to and from the airport and Funchal will be scheduled on November 16 and 23; if your flight does not line up well, we recommend you stay in Funchal an extra day, or arrange your own transfer.

Each participant will have their own room. The two people in the roommate option will have separate beds in a shared room.

What's not Included:

Flights, some airport transfers (see above)*, mandatory travel insurance, meals out, & dinners.

Payment:

• Within 7 days of email confirmation of the acceptance of your application, a €100 nonrefundable deposit is due by Wise or bank transfer
• Half of the balance, is due February 1, 2026
• The remaining balance is due April 1, 2026
